Footings Poured

We beat the rain! The last few days have been a race to pour the footings before heavy rain is supposed to hit us. The contractor and his subs pulled it off despite some challenges and they were poured late last night. I’m learning that timing and sequencing is a big part of building a house. The footings had to be dug, rebar laid, inspected, and poured. Each of those tasks requires different people and they all have to be scheduled (and show up) at the right time. The challenge this time is that the concrete company was backed up due to some computer issues. Who knew computers made concrete? Even though the city inspector was punctual, the cement mixer didn’t show up until 8:30 in the evening. I’m glad the guys doing the footings stuck around and made sure it was done so the rain wouldn’t set us back.
